"Wind As Light"
A cyclone of light! An actual photograph of a natural phenomenon, aided by a 4th of July celebration! With fireworks exploding over the lake on the US Independence Day holiday, the breeze over the lake caught this particular firework explosion at just the right time and just the right exposure, creating ribbons of light that carved out the wind's path against the colorful backdrop of late sunset.
This image was created in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY, a region of complex geography and geology. Deep lakes formed by glaciers and creeks running down steep gorges to feed the lakes with water from rain and snowmelt.
