Deep in the gorge above the main waterfall at Buttermilk Falls State Park in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, an area with a mixture of evergreens and deciduous trees provides striking autumn color next to the cascade.

The Finger Lakes are a pattern of lakes in the west-central section of Upstate New York in the United States. The lakes originated as a series of northward-flowing streams.
