Moderate winds good for sailing led to Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY being busy with boat traffic and very wavy earlier in the day, but as the evening progressed, the winds dropped and the lake calmed, allowing reflection of the rich color that developed in the sky as the sun set.
In addition to making a lovely art print, this image displays especially well as a canvas print.

The Finger Lakes are a pattern of lakes in the west-central section of Upstate New York in the United States. The lakes originated as a series of northward-flowing streams, further sculpted by the continental glaciers of the Laurentide Ice Sheet. Many creeks and streams, interspersed by numerous waterfalls, traverse steep gorges to feed the lakes with water from rain and snowmelt. The eleven Finger Lakes from east to west are: Otisco, Skaneateles, Owasco, Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka, Canandaigua, Honeoye, Canadice, Hemlock, and Conesus. Cazenovia Lake to the east, although smaller, is sometimes called "the twelfth Finger Lake. Oneida Lake, to the northeast of Syracuse, New York, is sometimes included as the "thumb," although it is shallow and somewhat different in character from the rest. The Finger Lakes area is New York's largest wine producing region, and the region has been designated the The Finger Lakes American Viticulture Area (AVA). Over 100 wineries and vineyards are located around Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua, Keuka, Conesus and Hemlock lakes. Because of the lakes' great depth, they provide a lake effect to the lush vineyards that flank their shores. The area is also known for education, with well known institutions of higher learning including ivy league Cornell University in Ithaca, fine art notable Ithaca College, and Wells College in Aurora. Nearby New York State Parks include Taughannock Falls State Park, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Watkins Glen State Park, Filmore Glen State Park, Long Point State Park, and Robert H. Treman State Park.
